Numerical Analysis of Wave Characteristic In the Freak Wave-- “New Year Wave” Formation

Freak waves are both extremely large and highly transient time. Such a wave may lead to damage of ships deaths. In this paper, describe the connection between freak essential factor, we use WAVEWATCH III model simulating “New Year Wave” in North Sea explore wave, with importing ECMWF re-analysis wind field. By way, successfully simulate formation random wave. Analysis shows steepness small directional spread angle necessary conditions for easily occur. analyzing spectrum, it is found that energy distributed range, propagation direction relatively concentrated.
